Nourish Your Eggs: The Fastest Way To Shuttle Blood To Your Ovaries.


Blood flow to the ovaries is one of the main determinants of ovarian health. 

But when you are under chronic stress, like the majority of us go-getters, your body is kind of stuck in a fight or flight response, resulting in a biological decision to divert blood away from what the body believes to be non-vital tissues, including, you guessed it: the reproductive organs. 

So how do you re-train your body to send blood to your eggs? 

Well first here's a little anatomy for ya. 

The abdominal aorta leaves the heart and drops down into the belly where it branches into the iliac arteries, supplying the entire pelvis with blood flow. Tiny offshoots of the iliac arteries, called uterine arteries, supply the reproductive organs with blood. The iliac arteries continue down past your pelvis and into your legs where they are renamed the femoral arteries.  

When your body is under stress, it constricts the uterine arteries and bypasses the "egg quality exit." 

The most amazing thing happens though when you block off the flow at the femoral artery and create a traffic jam of blood. Compressing the femoral artery one side at a time for about 30-45 seconds causes an increase in the pressure gradient in the iliac arteries. And its first offshoot to relieve that pressure is sending the backed-up blood down the uterine artery. Compressing the femoral artery results in more blood flow to the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes.

So how do you compress the femoral artery? 

First off- You only want to use femoral massage during the follicular phase. That is: the day after your period ends until the day of ovulation. 

Step 1: Have a partner find your femoral artery. It is about 2/3s of the way between your ASIS (protruding hip bone) and your pubic bone, in the panty crease. They should feel a pulse.

Step 2: Press down with a fair amount of pressure, cutting off the blood flow to the leg. Hold for 30 seconds.

Step 3: After your partner releases their hand, you should feel a warm rush of blood down your leg. Repeat 3 times on either side, twice a day. 

If you don't have a parter on call, you can use a small ball about the size of a softball to cut off the femoral blood supply. Find your femoral pulse as directed above. Lay face down on top of the ball at the point of pulsation. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times on both sides, twice a day. 

Again, use this technique during your follicular phase only. You don't want to do a lot to disturb the process of implantation post ovulation.

Femoral massage works to flush your reproductive organs with all the blood and nourishment they can get in order to produce the highest quality, most viable egg each month and an lush environment for it to settle.
